Sucess Stories
Personal stories inspire giving by showing how people in need have benefitted from contributions through the Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas. Personal stories can be included in speeches, shared at campaign events, used as good news articles in your local installation newspaper or sent as inspirational e-mails throughout the campaign.

Wounded Veteran Receives Specially Adapted HomeArmy Captain Ferris Butler lost both legs after an IED attack while serving in the Sunni Triangle in Iraq. Injured Marine Continues to ServeMatt Bradford, a 23-year old Marine, was injured in Iraq and lost both of his legs and his vision. Wounded Warrior Enjoys Renovated HomeU.S. Army Sergeant Shane Parsons was severely wounded in Iraq when his Humvee rolled over a roadside bomb. He died twice before reaching the Combat Support Hospital where he was treated and then transferred to Germany and eventually on to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. Read more. |

Injured Hero Sails Warrior’s Wish in Single-man Race to HawaiiRonnie Simpson was serving with the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines in the Spring of 2004 when his Humvee was hit with a rocket propelled grenade (RPG). To save his life, doctors placed him into a medically induced coma for 19 days. Read more. |

Injured Hero Gives Back by Racing Marine Corps MarathonMarine Master Sergeant (Retired) Carl Traub lost both legs and suffered paralysis from a severe spinal cord injury after an IED attack, while serving his country in Iraq. Despite these setbacks, he continues to serve his community and support his fellow injured warriors. Read more. |
Wounded Warrior Given Second ChanceKisielewski - Wounded Warrior Story Sgt Adam Kisielewski had just gotten married before he left for Iraq. A month into his tour, he and his Lieutenant entered a booby-trapped school in Al Karmah. The explosion killed the Lieutenant and Sergeant Kisielewski lost his left arm and his right leg just below the knee. He also suffered numerous other injuries that nearly cost him his left leg. What Your Dollars Can Do
Connecting to the charitable mission of some of the organizations participating in the CFC-O can be a powerful experience and demonstrates that the generosity of contributors truly does Make a World of Difference. This flyer lists some ways monthly contributions can help people and communities in need and can be used as a hand out at events, posted on bulletin boards or published in newsletters or on websites.

At the end of the 2010/2011 school year, the CFC-O and DoDDS Elementary Schools in the European and Pacific commands partnered in the first annual CFC-O/DoDDS Elementary Art Contest. Students were asked to create original artwork depicting the CFC-O theme: "Make a World of Difference." One winner was chosen per grade by a panel of judges. Below you can view each of the winning drawings and read about how donations through the CFC-O will "Make a World of Difference" in the causes each represents.

If one of the members of your leadership is willing to film or tape a PSA to be aired on your local AFN television or radio channel, please feel free to use or modify the sample texts below. Or, you can create your own text by using the Talking Points.

If you are unable to film a PSA of your own, you can still spread the word about the CFC-O by using one of the existing campaign messages. Some ideas for using these videos include: showing them at campaign events, asking your local AFN station to air them as a PSA, showing them before movies at the theater and asking your local AAFES or NEX exchange to air them on the television sets on display.
