Non-Governmental Organization Veteran Joins Global Impact's Senior Management Team as Executive Director of the Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas (CFC-O)

Alexandria, VA (August 11, 2010) - Global Impact, whose mission is to assure help for the world's most vulnerable people, recently appointed Victoria Adams as Executive Director of the Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas (CFC-O). With sixteen years of domestic and international non-governmental organization experience, Victoria will lead Global Impact's management of the CFC-O, one of the most successful charitable workplace giving campaigns in the world.

"As Global Impact kicks-off the 15th campaign season as manager of the CFC-O, we are pleased to have a leader who brings such strong international, military and program management experience to this vital workplace giving initiative," said Renée S. Acosta, President & CEO, Global Impact. "Working closely with the five U.S. Department of Defense combatant commands, Victoria is poised to leverage years of strategic planning and execution to lead all aspects of this campaign."

As Executive Director of the CFC-O, Victoria will oversee an initiative with a long-standing tradition of selfless giving. In 2009, nearly 95,000 CFC-O donors pledged more than $15.6 million to support about 2,300 charities serving millions of people in need around the world.

Prior to joining Global Impact, Victoria spent the past 11 years at ChildFund International in a variety of positions. Most recently, she managed the development and implementation of new strategic program initiatives in 34 developing countries. She also served as U.S. Program Director, providing leadership and guidance to CCF U.S. Area Program Offices and 22 project sites throughout the United States.

Victoria established extensive military experience during her 11 year tenure with the American Red Cross. In addition to mobilizing with the military during emergencies, she served as liaison between local chapters and national military sites, ensuring availability of training and development opportunities. She also managed programs in Military Social Services (M/SS), overseeing the lead unit of M/SS for the states of Maryland and Delaware and providing technical guidance and support.

Additional professional engagements include serving as a training specialist and membership development director for the Girl Scouts of America, where she recruited, trained, monitored and evaluated a team of more than 100 volunteer trainers who facilitated over 250 courses a year. Victoria also was a training instructor for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation.

Victoria holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Black Hills States University and a master's degree in business administration from Strayer University.

About the CFC and CFC-O
The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is the only authorized solicitation of Federal employees in their workplaces on behalf of approved charitable organizations. The mission of the CFC is to support and to promote philanthropy through a voluntary program that is employee-focused, cost-efficient and effective in providing all Federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.

Dedicated uniformed and civilian personnel demonstrate their generosity each and every day with service to our country and by joining together to help people and communities in need through the Department of Defense Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas (CFC-O). The CFC-O is one of the most successful charitable workplace giving campaigns in the world. The five combatant commands raised more than $15.6 million in 2009 to reach out with life-saving and life-enriching services benefiting millions of people. For more information, visit www.cfcoverseas.org.

About Global Impact
Global Impact raises funds to address critical needs throughout the world. Since 1956, Global Impact has generated more than $1.2 billion for thousands of charitable organizations to assure help for people and communities in need. In addition to supporting international relief and development programs, Global Impact strategically manages two of the world's largest workplace giving programs: the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area and the Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas. Global Impact is proud to hold the Charity Navigator Four-Star Rating and the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance Charity Seal.
Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area and Overseas Recognized by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management

Global Impact-Managed Campaigns Awarded for Innovation and Leadership

Global Impact, whose mission is to assure help for the world's most vulnerable people, announced today that the 2009 Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area (CFCNCA) and Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas (CFC-O) each received the National CFC Innovator Award from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is the only authorized workplace giving drive of employees in the Federal workplace to support local, national and international charitable organizations. Since Global Impact began managing the two largest CFCs, funds raised to help people in need increased from $54 million to more than $82 million in 2009.

Each year, OPM recognizes campaigns and volunteers who have made extraordinary contributions to the CFC through their dedication and creativity. CFC Innovator Awards are presented to campaigns that implemented an innovative strategy that led to increased participation and/or contributions. This is the seventh consecutive year CFCNCA and the third consecutive year CFC-O has received the award.

"It is a privilege managing the two largest CFCs and an honor to have each campaign recognized as an Innovator Award winner," said Renée S. Acosta, President & CEO, Global Impact. "In 2009, we leveraged innovative strategies, best practices and sound governance to ensure results-driven CFC fundraising and marketing initiatives."

OPM honored the 2009 CFCNCA for its integrated online strategy including moving many of the campaign's traditional marketing tools online, increasing paperless options for donors and providing supportive offline tactics that increased awareness of online options. CFCNCA donors responded with a record-breaking $66.5 million, raising $3.8 million more than the 2008 campaign.

OPM recognized the 2009 CFC-O for an innovative marketing technique that inspired youth in military communities overseas and helped inform and motivate potential donors by creating an additional means of interacting with the campaign in an online forum. The CFC-O team launched an online competition challenging high school students to create PSAs conveying key messaging using their own fresh perspectives. During the time period of the competition, the CFC-O website traffic doubled, e-Giving increased 127 percent and contributions increased 82 percent. The CFC-O raised more than $15.6 million for people and communities in need.

"This award serves as a tribute to those Federal employees and Department of Defense uniformed and civilian personnel who generously contribute to these two campaigns, benefitting millions of people throughout the world," Acosta further stated.

About Global Impact
Global Impact raises funds to address critical needs throughout the world. Since 1956, Global Impact has raised more than $1.2 billion for thousands of charitable organizations to assure help for people and communities in need.
Voluntary Contributions to Haiti Earthquake Relief!

The DoD Overseas Combined Federal Campaign has ended. However, if you are interested in making a voluntary contribution for the Haiti EarthquakeRelief effort, the following guidance is provided.

The earthquake that hit Haiti on January 12th came without warning and brought death and destruction on a scale that is difficult to comprehend. We are all moved, and after the quake struck, the United States and other nations immediately began relief operations for the Haitian people.

Every Federal worker can help.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has recommended cash contributions as the most effective way to help. USAID has provided a list of relief organizations and further information on its website at http://www.usaid.gov/

Please join President Obama, Secretary Gates and millions of Americans in supporting those who have been affected by this disaster in the coming days and weeks.
